Ideal Formula

Some little things can bring you joy. But what is the ideal formula for the so-called “Happiness”?

Read the Printed Word!

As the internet and technology became a huge part of our lives, we are now getting farther away from those delightful habits like smelling the old books, or making dog-ear page. It’s a bit hypocrite to put this on the internet blog but oh well..at least I have a pile of books on my night-stand keeping me company before I go sleep.

Let Them Eat Cupcakes!

Before: Snacking on Parmigiano Reggiano cheese before making cupcakes

During: The simple yellow cakes

After: Cream Cheese Frosting and Vanilla Frosting

Cupcakes are such cutest little things that one could ever gobble down..

A few nights ago, I made these cupcakes just to kill time. I decided to make 2 kinds of frosting, the simple vanilla butter cream  and the other one  was cream cheese. It turned out that the cream cheese frosting  was hughly well-received by friends and family. Well..Let them eat (cup)cakes!

My personal list of cupcake shops: Magnolia Bakery (NYC) and Kara’s Cupcake (San Francisco)

Fries with Design

This is such a nice graphic design on a french fries bag created by Greyhound. Bon Appetite!

Wish You Were ..

During the month of December when the weather gets cool with nice breezy air, Bangkokians would go hang out after work at these alfresco beer festival spots. This is one of the tacky tag lines on the servers’ t-shirt.

I only knew you for a while
I never saw your smile
‘Til it was time to go
Time to go away (time to go away)
Sometimes it is hard to recognize
Love comes as a surprise

And it is too late
It is just too late to stay
Too late to stay
We’ll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)

We’ll always be together
Together in Electric Dreams
Because the friendship that you gave
Has taught me to be brave
No matter where I go I’ll never find a better prize
(Find a better prize)

Though you’re miles and miles away
I see you every day I don’t have to try
I just close my eyes I close my eyes
We’ll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)

We’ll always be together
Together in Electric Dreams

2047

Oriental Hotel

Of all Wong Kar Wai’s films, I think 2046 is the loneliest one.

It is a loose sequel to the 1991 film Days of Being Wild and the 2000 film In the Mood for Love. It follows the aftermath of Chow Mo-wan’s  affair with Su Li-Zhen in 1960s Hong Kong.

The film is the third chapter of a shared story that began with Days of Being Wild and continued with In the Mood for Love.

There are four main story arcs to the film. Three are about the relations of Chow with women that he meets after losing Su Li-Zhen. The first concerns Chow and Wang Jing Wen, the second is about Chow and Bai Ling, and the third is about Chow and a different woman who is also named Su Li-Zhen. The fourth takes place in Chow’s mysterious world of 2046 and concerns a Japanese passenger falling in love with an android. Typical of Wong Kar-wai films, the arcs are presented in pieces and in non-chronological order.

“In the year 2046… A mysterious train leaves for 2046 every once in a while. Every passenger going to 2046 has the same intention: They want to recapture lost memories… Nobody’s ever come back…”

An emotionally delayed android

“Before, when people had secrets they didn’t want to share. They’d climb a mountain, find a tree and carve a hole in it. And whisper the secret in the hole . Then cover it over with mud. That way, nobody else would ever discover it.”

Love is all a matter of timing.

Oh..2047 is a sci-fi book that he wrote for her,  about a Japanese traveler who sought to leave 2046.

Magna Doodle

Magna Doodle

Today when I was flipping through a magazine, I saw a picture of an Apple computer drawing tablet and it reminded me of Magna Doodle. It was one of my most favorite toys that I had when I was a kid. I guess, it was the medium that inspired me to draw…

So I googled it, and the closest version that looks like mine is this one above. My Magna Doodle was bright red though.

Oh.. I even found one with the sketch of Jesus and Mary Chain!!!

Peek-A-Boo

A couple days ago as I started reading a new book that I bought from Browser Books in San Francisco, I found a little bouquet of dried roses that I had inserted in the book on that day. Though the flowers died.. the memories fade, these dried little flowers just manage to surprise you and they remind you of a good moment that you’ve had. So, peek-a-boo!
